STREETWISE-RAVEN NYC OUTREACH

The NYC Outreach held May 18-22 was BEYOND BELIEF and the men of God that gathered from across this nation were primed and ready to "Go for Jesus." The outreach, termed the "Boot Camp in the Big Apple" and themed after the words to the old 70's hit "The Boys are Back in Town" was the first of what Street Wise Ministry (Hollywood) and Raven Ministries International hopes to be an annual event.

(Above L-R) Steve Ignowski and Terry Shuff of Raven Midwest are joined by Thomas Derrick (far right - of Raven New Orleans) with their "friend" they met while we ministered in Tompkins Square Park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan one evening. The man was the "heavy" in a drug infested park, yet the guys were able to minister to him at length.

(Above) Terry Shuff stands in th shadow of the steel beams that formed the shape of a cross at "Ground Zero" in New York City. This was the site of the 9/11 terrorist attack which was the single deadliest terror attack in US History. THIS DAY we took the SINGLE GREATEST HOPE into this area: JESUS

(Above)I was blessed to have two of my nephews with me during this outreach. Justin Bohn (far left) is a full time volunteer for the Celebration Relief Center in New Orleans and Brandon Romero (far right) is the new director of Raven Southwest based in Albuquerque, NM.

(Above) Pastor Troy and Pastor Alex with a young homeless man from Ireland that they met in Topkins Square Park. He had only been on the streets a few days and was reluctant to recieve our offer to buy him dinner. He said that he was accustomed to working, but lost his job and due to the high cost of living could not afford to keep his apartment. He said he was subsisting on a few hours sleep "here and there" on the subways and that he was afraid to be out on the streets at night.
(Above) Khater Saloman (New Orleans) ministers to a tattoo covered man in the Staten Island Ferry Station. The man was very open to prayer and ministry. The station was a "prime location" as there are about 3-5 thousand people just "waiting" for the next ferry to come (about 30-40 minutes). We had a fresh crop of about 4,000 people every half hour coming through!

The Boys are Back in Town NYC Outreach

(Above) Thomas Derrick (right) strands with a young man that we were able to minister and pray for at "The Cube" near Cooper Square and the ecclectic "Saint Mark's" area. He was on his way to "party" when we intercepted he, his girlfriend and another companion.
(Above) It seems that Satan always is willing to send his minions out to the streets to offer a substitute for the real thing (JESUS). Here a man holds a sign offering to cure "stress, emotional and physical pain." WE know that JESUS was the One who was, "wounded for our transgressions, bruised for iniquities, chastized for our peace and by HIS stripes we are healed." Too bad the "church" is too busy to hit the streets to tell the world the truth!

(Above) Pastor Alex Hill (left) stands with Thomas Derrick during our ministry in Union Square NYC.
(Above) Pastor Johnnie "T" of Amarillo ministers to a couple that had been involved in a local gang. Here is a message that Pastor Johnnie sent to me about this encounter:
"I met met Julcia. She was very sad, seemed displaced. I ministered to her for quite a while. Her husband Anthony was out and about, and when he saw me talking to her, he came up to me all roostered up like he wanted to put a whoop on me. I extended my hand and told him who I was and what I was doing and he felt a sigh of relief. The man sat down and started sobbing. He began sharing his life story with me. His first wife and kids had died. He was unemployed. While he was sharing his story, he took off this necklace. I asked him what it meant. The necklace represented what gang he belonged to. Anthony and Julcia got saved and filled with the Holy Spirit right there sitting on the park bench. I lead him in prayer and he renounced his affiliation with the gang. I told them what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28,29, “Come to Me, all you who labour, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls“. Just as the night before, I could see a physical change in the ones being ministered to. It was awesome to see the Holy Spirit at work, changing these lives. They both looked as if a load had been lifted off their backs."

(Above) There are many homeless on the streets of NYC. Here several sleep on the steps of a padlocked church building. This area is near 51st and 5th Ave---which is the home to many upscale hotels and million dollar Uptown apartments.
(Above) Pastor Troy with Eric, Phylise, and her daughter Chloe, after the Sunday service. Pastor Troy met them the day before outside of the Starbucks in the East Village and had the chance to pray and minister to them. He was so blessed when they accepted the invite to church the next day...and then they invited him to have cofee with them the next day before he was scheduled to fly back home.

(Above) Pastor Troy stands with a young Jewish man visiting NYC from Tel Aviv, Israel. I was able to take him to the Old Testament and the Law of Moses to show him how he (part of the seed of Abraham) had forsaken the God of Abraham, Isaacs, and Jacob and thus broken the first fourn commandments of God--which in Ancient Judea would have warranted the 'Death Penalty." I was able to share with him "Messianic Prophecies" from the book of Isaiah concerning Jesus and challenge him regarding the "selling out of his birthright" for less than a bowl of soup (Esau). He allowed me to pray and minister to him here in the "ripe harvest field" of Union Plaza.

(Above) Pastor Troy prays with an entire family from Central America who were visiting the United States while on vacation. They were very open to the Gospel and also very receptive of receiving prayer. We were standing just across the street from "Ground Zero," the site of the the deadly terrorist attacks of 9/11 that claimed nearly 3,000 innocent lives and took down the massive "Twin Towers" that once dominated the Manhattan skyline.
