Marathon For Souls Update

(This is me taking a break to put on a pair of dry socks at the 16 mile mark)
.
I can tell you one thing for sure, "Twenty-six mile is a long way on foot!" Our teams across the US and Canada conducted our first annual Marathon for Souls with the goal of raising the necessary $26,000 to put as many as 200 Urban Missionaries on the streets of New Orleans during our Mardi Gras Outreach this coming February.
.
The marathons were being ran as "relays" or "cummulative" marathons where each persons distance was added together to achieve a total of 26 miles at each location. Some of the teams logged as many as 30 miles in the day, but all the teams who hosted a Marathon accomplished the goal of completing the 26 miles.
.
I felt that I, as the leader (aka. servant of Jesus), should set the standard and do ALL 26 miles of the marathon. Well--I got them ALL DONE! Praise the Lord for the prayers (no really!) that helped me get it done for Jesus! I had several friends email me before hand and say, "Please reconsider doing this!" I sure appreciate their love and concern, but I am blessed that I was able to do this for such an important cause (SOULS).
.
We came up short on our goal ($26,000) 0r ($2600 x 10 teams) with premliminary totals being around $8000 (this could go up as totals are sent in). We will continue to receive donations over the next couple of months to raise the balance of the outreach budget. Our goal is to be able to allow any soul-winner to come and share Jesus on the streets of New Orleans during this time FREE OF CHARGE!
