Daytona Beach Streets

Each weekend we invite you to join us on the Streets of Daytona Beach as we take the life-transforming message of Jesus to the lost and dying. This past weekend we assembled an awesome team that saw us out ministering until around 4:00 AM! (Time sure flies when you are serving Jesus)
.
We took our team to Daytona's main nightclub strip and "set up shop" on the sidewalks in front of a night club popular with the college-aged community. There are (3) colleges here in Daytona Beach and several others within a half hour drive--so this place is usually teeming with 20-somethings on Satruday night.
.
Joining the RAVEN TEAM this week were: Pastor Troy & Melanie, Pastor Alex & Holly, Pastor Terry & Eileen, Pastor Craig, Rusty, Sue, Cindy, Kayla and Amanda. They were all just awesome and did a great job in respresenting Jesus to many lost, confused and broken people.
One of the places that we often set up in front of is the all-night pizza shop adjacent to the Razzle's Club. This place was owned by an Egyptian man who always invited us to come into the restaurant and use his place as a "staging and rest" area for any of our street ministry at night. We found out that he had sold the place to a 29 year old Egyptian-born young man recently.
.
I was able to meet "Hann" the new owner, who also invited us to use his place as our "base." I also ministered to him for about 45 minutes that night. He has recently gone through a divorce and was needing some ministry, encouragment and prayer. Pastor Alex spent a great deal of time ministering to his delivery driver who is Muslim (Hann attends an Egyptian Orhodox Church).

One of the saddest things that we always encounted on the streets is the explotation of young women. Having my daughter (Kayla) and niece (Amanda) with me always blesses me because so many young women feel as though they have to present themselves as sex objects to receive any type of acceptance from young men. We continually strive to minister holiness to these young women and work to show them the value that Jesus puts upon them and the (eternal) danger that that face if they continue to walk in this deception.
.
Two of our "new guys" (new to the team, but not to Jesus!) did a great job. Pastor Craig was continuously sharing his faith with people as they came by and Brother Rusty was relentless in calling people to reopentance ance faith towards God. Rusty was with me as we had to minister deliverance to "Greg", a homeless man who was oppressed by the devil.

SOUTH FLORIDA OUTREACH REPORT

The RAVEN TEAM hit the road last week for an outreach in South Florida with our friend's from Walk for Christ Ministries which is led by Evangelist Ivan Itzkowitz Jr. (http://www.walkforchrist.com/) The outreach was held in Hollywood, Florida (Miami) and we saw believers from all around come together to Lift Up the Name of Jesus to see hearts and lives changed and transformed for His Glory!
.
We were blessed to assemble an awesome team from the Central Florida area that included Melania and myself (Raven International), Pastor Terry & Eileen (and the Raven Daytona Beach Team), and Pastor John Adams (Raven Titusville). Everyone did a great job and truly demonstrated the character of Christ on the outreach as they worked hard and represented Jesus in a powerful way!
.
Our team had volunteered to provide food for the outreach, so we packed up both trailers and vans with the equipment and sat up under a 20x20 tent as we prepared red beans & rice with smoked sausage, and grilled cheese sandwiches to go along with the hot dogs and cold drinks. We were blessed to work with a group of ladies from the area who came out to serve as well. They were such a joy to be around and had such servants hearts.

One of the events scheduled for the day was a 2 mile "Walk for Christ" that would take the team down a very at-risk area. The team was led by a Police escort and the JESUS BUS with portable sound stage and many carrying signs and banners declaring the name of Jesus to all who would pass by.
Prior to the walk there was a time of Praise and Worship, testimones, words of exhortation and prayer for many needs. It was such a blessing to see so many people coming together to solely lift up Christ out in the midst of a lost and dying world.
.
Many words of knowledge came forth as peopl were called out to be healed. The Spirit of God could truly be felt as His mercy was evidenced as people wept and were touched by the power of His presence. There were many who testified as to a powerful touch from the Lord that healed them on the spot as they stepped out in faith believing Jesus for their deliverance.
.
Out team helped worked the "altars" as people came forward as the Holy Spirit "called them out" to be saved, set free and deleivered from sickness and disease. People were delivered from leg and hip injuries, kidney problems, drugs/alcohol, and various other physical ailments and diseases as the Word was preached in power and in demonstration of the Holy Spirit.
.
It is always such a joy to see people walking and working in unity. While it is rare to see these things transpire in the church or even between Churches within the framework of "the four walls", it is always amazing to see peopel come togther for the cause of Christ when we hit the streets together where ONLY JESUS can be glorified!
.
We already have plans to join up with the brothers in the Lord next month (Dec 8) for antoher outreach to Miami's Wynwood Area (the Hood in other words!) If you are in the area and would like to join us, contact us and come be a part of it as well!

Hittin' The Road for Jesus...

RAVEN MINISTRIES is teaming up with Walk for Christ in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday for a City-Wide JESUS-EVENT that is bringing together dozens of Churches in taking the message of the Gospel to the lost, hurting and dying.

Pastor Troy & Melanie along with the Raven International team will be heading south with Pastor Terry & Eileen Shuff and the Raven Daytona Beach Team, and Pastor John & Danaye Adams and the Raven Space Coast Team.

The teams will be loading up at 4:30 AM on Saturday to make the four hour trek towards Miami where there will be a 2 mile prayer walk culminating in an all-day outreach event. Last year's event saw many lives touched, many people healed and many coming to the Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition to witnessing and sharing the Gospel, the Raven Team will be preparing and serving FREE hot food to those in attendance at the outreach. Among our menu items will be Red beans & rice with smoked sausage and grilled cheese sandwiches. We expect to feed upwards of 1,000 people.

Thirty-Nine Lashes: How To Preach Without Converting Anyone

1. Preach on every doctrine that centers the attention on man rather than Jesus.

2. Teach every doctrine that makes man the center of God's attention rather than God the center of man's devotion.

3. Tell people only what God will do for them.

4. Avoid preaching about the necessity of a radical change of heart, through the truth revealed to the heart by the agency of the Holy Spirit.

5. Let your supreme motive to be popular with all people, then, of course, your preaching will be suited for that purpose, and not to convert souls to Christ.

6. Avoid preaching doctrines that are offensive to the carnal mind, so that no one should say to you, as they did of Christ, "This is a hard saying, who can hear it?"

7. Make no distinct points, and do not disturb the consciences of your hearers so that they may become truly alarmed about their souls.

8. Avoid all illustrations, repetitions, and expressive sentences that may compel people to remember what you say.

9. Avoid all heat and enthusiasm in your delivery, so that you never make the impression that you really believe what you say.

10. Make appeals to the emotions, and not the conscience, of your hearers.

11. Be careful not to testify from your own personal experience of the power of the gospel, so that you never should produce the conviction upon your hearers that you have something which they need.

12. Do not stir up uncomfortable memories by reminding your hearers of their past sins.

13. Denounce sin in a general way, but make no reference to the specific sins of your present audience.

14. Do not make the impression that God commands your listeners here and now to obey the truth.

15. Do not let them think that you expect them to commit themselves right on the spot to give their hearts to God.

16. Give the impression that they are expected to go away in their sins, and to consider the matter at later time of their convenience.

17. Preach salvation by grace; but ignore the condemned and lost condition of the sinner so that he never should understand what you mean by grace, and know his need of it.

18. Preach the gospel as a remedy or a cure, but conceal or ignore the fatal disease of the sinner.

19. Do not speak of the spirituality of God's holy law (by which comes the knowledge of sin), so that the sinner never should see his lost condition and repent.

20. Make no appeals to the fears of sinners; but give them the impression that they have no reason to fear.

21. Preach Christ as an infinitely friendly and good-natured being. Ignore those scathing rebukes of sinners and hypocrites which so often made His hearers tremble.

22. Do not rebuke the worldly tendencies of the church, so that you should never hurt their feelings, and finally convert some of them.

23. Admit, either obviously or casually, that all men have some moral goodness in them; so that sinners should never understand that they need a radical change of heart, from sin to holiness.

24. Say so little of hell that your people will think that you do not believe in its existence yourself.

25. Make the impression that, if God is as good as you are, He could not send anyone to hell.

26. Make no disagreeable reference to the teachings of self-denial, cross-bearing, and crucifixion to the world, so that you should never convict and convert some of your church members.

27. Do not rebuke extravagance in dress, so that you should never make an uncomfortable impression on your vain and worldly church members.

28. Encourage lots of church socials, and attend them yourself.

29. Aim to make your hearers pleased with themselves and pleased with you, and be careful especially not to wound the feelings of anyone.

30. Make sure you avoid preaching to those who are present. Preach about sinners, but not to them. Say "they," and not "you," so that anyone should never take your subject personally, and apply it to their own life, Securing the salvation of their soul.

31. Preach that the new birth is something God deposits in people, not a fundamental change in the ultimate purpose of our lives.

32. Never tell people that they must cease from serving self and serve God and do His will.

33. Never tell them that repentance is man's ability and responsibility to turn from his sin to God! Teach them to delay turning away from all known sin toward God.

34. Preach predestination in such away that results in fatalism and apathy on the part of all people. Make each person believe that God has already determined who shall be saved, and nothing can change His will. You never want anyone to think that their actions can make any difference.

35. Preach that man is totally unable to obey God. Teach him that no one can turn to God, but he must wait upon God to turn (change) him. Make sure that no one realizes his true responsibility requiring him to repent in order to be saved. You never want anyone to know that man can turn from sin to God but the real problem is that he will not!

36. Preach that a person can be saved without making Jesus his lord. Teach that holiness is just an option and not a requirement of the gospel. Teach them that they can be Christian without becoming true disciples.

37. Preach eternal security in such away that requires no perseverance in faith or continuance in holiness on the part of the believer. Make every person think he has his ticket to heaven that is all paid for so that he will always safely scoff at all calls for repentance and righteous.

38. Teach Christians that sin is a normal and natural part of their every day life and that they can never truly expect to ever overcome sin through the power of Christ.

39. Preach that no Christian needs to do anything. Teach them that they are safe and heaven bound even if their lives are disobedient and rebellious.

Daytona Nights....

Pastor Terry and I just came in off the streets (2:00 AM) after having spent the past few hours witnessing and contending with the Devil outside of the Cities most popular night club: Razzles.
.
We didn't have to wait long before we had our first appointment. "Debbie" was working as the parkign lot attendant when we began talking with her. It wasn't long before we knew that she "claimed" to know and love Jesus--yet had a live-in boyfried and and a drug addiction to go along with her "devotion" to the Lord Jesus Christ!
.
Needless to say, Pastor Terry and I spent the next little bit sharing the truth about salvation and deliverance through faith in the shed blood of Christ. It was a really great conversation and she thanked us for spending the time with her. We invited her to church and gave her our contact info. She said that she would like us to meet her boyfriend sometime and would definitely keep in touch.
.
About twenty yards down the street we ran into three young men: (2) from the Bahamas and (1) from the Dominican Republic. They all claimed to know and serve Jesus--we didn't Gestapo them too much, but really admonished them to serve God and be real in their walk with Christ.
.
Our next major encounter was with "Gabriel" as college student from the Bronx (NY) who was 21 and a "devout Roman Catholic." He was with another young man who sid that he never "argued religion or politics" on the streets--but he certainly caught the whole of our conversation with Garbriel!
.
It didn't take long to find out that Gabriel wasn't even a very good "Catholic" as he was partying in the night club and admitted to being in a fornicative relationship with his girlfriend. We call him out on his sin in accordance with the Word and he attempted to tap dance around his lifestyle by declaring that it would be okay because, "He was a Catholic" to which we testified that it would not be okay and that unless he repented he would spend eternity in Hell.
.
Garbriel was further exposed when I gave him my customary "Catholic Challenge" by asking if he could quote JUST ONE passage from the Bible--chapter and verse (Just One!!) and he could not! It was as though he had his britches pulled down and was given a good lashing on the backside!
.
I presented him the plan of salvation and told him that it would take genuine repentance--yet he chose to remain a lost Catholic and I told him that he was now without excuse becaue we had given him the full counsel of God and then we walked away.
.
About 45 minutes later he and his friend would once again come over to us and he said, "Hey I know a scripture! God grant me the serenity..." I interupted him and said, "MMMMMAAAA--wrong answer--that is not in the Bible--THAT is the serenity prayer that they quote at AA meetings" He was busted but thought it MUST be in the Bible.
.
He pulled out his IPhone and got on the internet and tried to look it up in an online Bible--but soon found out that it was not a Bible verse. We continued to talk with him and told him that he was without excuse now because God had sent men to tell him the truth. I offered to give him a Bible to which he said,"Yes" and said that he would call to set up a time to meeet me.
.
Next we met "Rosa", her boyfriend and her girlfriend, Alicia as they came out of the club. Rosa was VERY drunk and was being led out by Alicia when we started witnessing to them. Rosa stopped and begin to get argumentative as she struggled to stand on her feet. I grabbed hold of her and began to bind that drunken devil in the name of Jesus!
.
She had a hard time standing and was falling down on her friend. We ended up walking with the three of them towards their car and gave them our number to contact us. While Rosa was very intoxicated, and even somewhat argumentative--she still wanted to continue talking with me. As we walked them across the street to their car--she fell down in the middle of the road and had to be carried away by her friends. Pray for her salvation and that she will find my number in her pocket when she sobers up.
.
We saw the police officer again that we ran into at Biketober Fest who claimed to be a "pagan." It was funny, but we could not get her to make eye contact with us! We walked by her a number of times as she worked security at the club and she would literally turn the other way to avoid looking at us.
.
I really feel that the Lord was showing me that she was ashamed! I feel that she lied to us about beign a pagan the first time that we met to get us off her back, but in reality she is just a backslidden Christian--and now she feels guilty for denying Christ and just can't come to grips with what she has done.
.
As we left for the night we had the opportunity to meet Debbie (the parking attendants) boyfriend. He too was a "devout Catholic" who also could not quote ONE passage from the Bible. He quickly let us know that he didn't like "in your face" Christians who are just so direct. I told him that his eternal soul was worth me being direct about. We spent the next several minutes answering his questions and calling him out on his hypocracy and sin. (He admitted that he and Debbie were living in fornication) we invited him to church and headed home for the night.

Great Men of Faith: George Mueller

1805 - 1898 "At last I saw Christ as my Saviour. I believed in Him and gave myself to Him. The burden rolled from off me, and a great love for Christ filled my soul. That was more than fifty years ago. I loved Jesus Christ then, but I loved Him more the year after, and more the year after that, and more every year since."Born in Prussia in 1805, George Mueller began running from God early in life. By age ten he had devised a scheme to embezzle government money entrusted to his father. He spent his schooldays in drunken immorality. He even served time in jail at age sixteen for failing to pay his bills.
.
The university he attended had some 900 divinity students, but Mueller said there were not nine of them who truly feared God. He continued his sinful habits during his college days until finally at age 20 the burden of his sins overcame him and he trusted Christ as Saviour.
.
Soon he committed himself to a full-time gospel ministry. When Mueller was twenty-five, he went to Teignmouth, England, with his new wife, Mary, to pastor a small church. He gave up the small salary offered when he discovered it was paid through the rental of church pews. From that time on he resolved to live by faith.
.
Mueller moved in 1832 to Bristol, England, to be the pastor of another church. There his famous work with the orphans began when two young children were thrown upon the church's care. Mueller had only two shillings to his name when he began the orphanage work, but over the next sixty years God sent more than $7,500,000 to supply their needs. New buildings were built or purchased, staff was hired, and the hundreds of children never missed a meal. Many times prayers were said over empty plates only to have food arrive at the last moment.

Mueller resolved never to tell anyone what his needs were. He told them to God and confidently expected them to be met.
.
During his life, Mueller started 117 schools which educated over 120,000 young people and orphans. He became pastor of Bethesda Chapel in Bristol. The church had some 2,000 members at his death.

Christianity Lite: Great Taste? Less Filling!

"Now the serpent (Satan) was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"

"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree would tase great for food...she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it." Genesis 3:1-6

A number of years ago there was a commercial where retired athletes would argue over the reason for drinking a popular "lite" beer. One side would always say, "It tastes great!" While the other side would shout sternly back, "It's less filling!" As far as I know, neither side won the "Beer-Debate"--but there is an ongoing debate within the ranks of Christianity that offers the conclusion that "It may taste great, but it is less filling."

From the time of the fall of man in the Garden, Satan has always offered something that tasted great and man has long fell victim to the temptation of these things. First it was the forbidden fruit, next it was the great taste of fulfiiing one's anger when Cain slew his own brother, Able. Then it was the great taste of adultery and the great taste of thievery and the great taste offerings continued up until now.

.

Today Satan has found a new way to market his "Great Taste...Less Filling" means of ensnaring the unsuspecting consumer: He is now offering "Christianity Lite," which may very well have great taste--but is definitely less filling!

.

This new brand of Christianity is not that much different from the long-necked, amber colored bottles being hocked by Dick Butkus and his football pals. It promises to allow you all of the benefits of living like the devil, yet with none of the consequences of hell.

.

"Drink Up! God is a God of love! Don't let them judge you. You love God just as much as they do. You can act anyway that you want. Haven't those judgmental Pharasees ever heard of grace before? We have got to be relevant to our culture. God will understand my weakness. He will forgive me--we are just trying to have fun. I go to church. I sing in the choir. I even pay 10% of my income (after taxes though) and I don't need any full-bodied "Bible Thumper" telling me what I should and should not do!" Taste Great! Less Filling!

"Is there wickedness on my lips? Cannot my taste discern perverse things?" Job 6:30

.

The problem that is occuring in many Churches across this nation is that they are being sold a spiritual bill of goods and have been duped into the insidious lies of the adversary through the slick marketing of perverse things being called righteousness. The ad-ex are no longer occupying office space on Madison Avenue, but have moved their campaigns to the modern worship centers of Carnal-Christianity!

.

The famous athletes have been replaced by celebrity-charlatans masquerading as self-styled "Apostles, Bishops and Prophetesses." For the post-modern crowd they have adopted "hip" guru-esque personas and coffee-house intimacy. They say, "Come on and eat of this---it taste great! and the best part it--it is so much less filling than all of that stuffy, self-denying, holiness-based Christianity that the old folks put up with!"

.

The Word of God has issued many warning that this hour would come in the last days.

.

2 Tim 3:1-5 "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!" Tastes Great...less filling.

Friends we have got to get back to the place of recognozing this great deception for what it is---it is the same snare that was set 6,000 years ago in the Garden that served as a catalyst in sending billions into an eternal hell and it keeps up...billions more will also spend eternity in the lake of fire having thought that what "Tasted Great and was Less Filling" somehow qualified for a genuine relationship with Jesus.

Phil 1:9-11 "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-- to the glory and praise of God."

Raven VOODOO FEST Outreach in New Orleans

Our outreach last week to New Orleans during their annual "VooDoo Fest" was truly an amazing tme in Jesus as we took the Gospel into one of America's most desperate--yet most ready for harvesting Cities!
.
This years team came together to join Raven Gulf Coast from Raven West Coast, Raven Daytona Beach, Raven Fairfield, and Raven International (that was me!). The team was awesome and the Gulf Coast team were fantastic hosts for the event.
.
Pastor Terry & Eileen, Raven Deb, and myself made the 625 mile trip from Daytona Beach on the morning of the 23rd and literally "hit the ground running" as we joined the team at the Jesus Miracle Power building for a time of worship and a word from Pastor Don of Gulf Coast.

After the service we set off for the French Quarter where we immediately went to work sharing the Gospel around the famous Cafe' Du Monde. There I met a young lady who lived on the streets who said that she was hungry. I offered to take her to eat, but she said she had others with her who were also hungry, so Raven Deb and I offered to go to the store a couple of blocks away and pick up lunch meat for all of them.

We fed about 10-12 of the "Gutter Punks" (that is the name that these traveling streets kids have given themselves). There is where I met a man who had once walked with the Lord but was now living on the streets and wondering how he would ever get his life back together. I told him that we served a God who was rich in mercy and that if he repented that God would forgive him and heal his backsliding.

I spent the next 45 minutes pouring the Word of God into Casey and then I called over Brother "Boogaloo" and his wife Marci to help me to pray deliverance over him. As we prayed the Spirit of God fell and he broke! He began to weep and cry out in repentance for God to forgive him. We continued ministering to Casey and then offered to take him to a discipleship house where he could get built up in his relationship with Christ for the next year. He took us up on the offer and Pastor Don and Pastor Thomas took him right over to the house.

Things continued to heat up as we took the team on down to Bourbon Street where the Halloween-costumed crowd was about as rowdy and wicked as we have seen. I soon found myself witnessing to a 42 year old man from Houston who was a backslider. As I spoke with him his young friend came up and tried to be confrontational with me (not realizing that I was preaching the Gospel to his friend.)

I then turned my attention to the young man and started preaching the Word of God to him. He told me that his dad was a devout Jehovah's Witness and his mother was Pentecostal (what a combination!) I was able to share with them at length and pray wit the both of them as well before they left.

Pastor Meredith (Raven Fairfield) brought in a great group of guys from Texas. Keith, Daniel and Alex were great additions to the team and got right after it sharing the Word with the partiers. I spent part of the night with Alex standing with me to gain some insight and experience and this young man of God really took off sharing his faith and praying with several people as well.

The next day I was scheduled to meet up with Audrey to get her and here boys into a discipleship home. You may remember that she was the young woman who came to Christ and renounced tarot card reading on my last trip to New Orleans. Somehow we crossed paths and didn't get connected until later that day (she and the boys became the first residence of the new Liberty House for women!).

As I waited in the Quarter, I overheard a man at a large mobile kitchen saying that the police were making him move because of complaints from the artist set up in the square. He was there filming the pilot for a televised cooking show. He had 100 pounds of chicken that he was to cook and give away--but had no place to go.

I introduced myself to him and asked if he would lke me to find him a place to set up his cook trailed to give away the fried chicken. He was elated and immediately said, "Yes!" ( I didn't tell him what I had in mind--just that there wold be plenty of people around) We hooked the van up to his generator and he hooked up the kitchen and we set off for the Ibberville Housing Projects (aka. Drugs and Murder Central).

As soon as we showed up the people began to come out (drug dealer, prostitutes, addicts included). The team immediately got busy sharing the Gospel and praying with the many who came out when they heard about the free fried chicken! We saw many come to Jesus that day as we criss-crossed the projects and some of the guys preached and shared their testimonies on the microphone as the crowd listened in.

The day was such a blessing as we saw heroin addicts repent and come to Jesus in faith. We were able to minister to a women with children who had no groceries as some of the guys went and bought her $100 worth of food for her home. It was powerful as the kids came out to play and the environment was changed as the Holy Spirit super-charged the area with His grace and mercy.

That night we were back in the French Quarter preaching the Gospel again. Part of the team went to Bournon Street and part of the team found themselves occupied for several hours in the Jackson Sqaure area. Daniel and Alex found themselves contending with a Pagan couple for a good hour. They shook them so much that the Pagan woman emailed me asking me to keep these two JESUS FREAKS from being so agressive in their witnessing! Praise Jesus!

We left Daytona truly "on faith" as Raven East Coast was the only one to respond to our request for support--but God met the need as Pastor Stephen Smith of Westpoint Church blessed us with enough mony to cover our gas on the way home. Thank you guys very much for standing with us in the battle for men and women's souls!
